Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment joins other studios in offering consumer incentives to upgrade their DVD libraries to Blu-ray. Under Disney’s Blu-ray upgrade program, consumers visit a website to download a form, which they mail in with proof-of-purchase symbols from their Disney DVDs. The studio then emails $8 coupons for individual Blu-ray titles, valid at select retailers.
Other studios that have launched Blu-ray incentive programs in recent weeks include Warner Bros., which ships Blu-ray versions of select films direct to consumers in exchange for their old DVD copies and $7.95 in cash per title. Via Blu-ray.com
